Mountain Lodge Ltd signed a Contract for Professional Service with Mountain Rescue Service of Sloval Repiblic (HZS). This project will be conducted with support of SlovakAID. Mountain Lodge Ltd as co-financing partner contributes about 30% of total costs for reconstruction of the hut. 

Brief project description: The attractiveness of the country of Kyrgyzstan is an important factor in promoting the development of tourism, which is rapidly becoming significant to the national economy. There are over 88 major mountain ranges in Kyrgyzstan, most of them forming the Tien Shan System. In Kyrgyz Range the most interesting part for high mountains tourism is Ala-Archa gorge. The Ak-Sai region in Ala-Archa National Park is known as one of the best climbing areas anywhere in the world. This region is situated only 45 km from the capital, Bishkek.

However, the high mountain infrastructure for tourists is not environmentally friendly and sufficient for the increasing amount of tourists. Therefore, the project outcomes are i) developing of the model solution of management of high mountain tourism in Kyrgyzstan (applied in Ala-Archa region) through the development of high mountain tourism infrastructure meeting international standards; ii) increasing awareness of high mountain tourism issues, relevant environment protection measures, SlovakAid schemes and Slovak Republic.

Project goal is to support development of tourism sector as an important revenue generation source in Kyrgyzstan in environmentally friendly way. The project will address the problem of the Kyrgyz high mountain tourism, which lacks the environmentally friendly infrastructure, as well as  insufficient range of delivered services. High mountain tourism is quickly developing and is created mainly by foreign visitors. However, they are expecting provision of the service on high level. Therefore, the overall goal is to develop the model solution for the strengthening of infrastructure services for high mountain tourism. Through the strengthening of the infrastructure the standard of the services for tourist will be higher and on the other hand, the negative environmental impact of tourism in high mountain environment will be lower. 

Project outcomes: 

1. Developing of the model solution of management of high mountain tourism in Kyrgyzstan (applied in Ala-Archa region) through the development of high mountain tourism infrastructure meeting international standards. 

2. Increased awareness of high mountain tourism issues, relevant environment protection measures, SlovakAid schemes and Slovak Republic.

Project outputs: 

1. Ratsek Hut reconstructed according to international tourism and environmental standards; 

2. The high mountain weather forecast system for tourists developed;

3. Information on pilot model solution of management of high mountain tourism in Ala-Archa and SlovakAid available in tourist centers, ski centers  and on internet.

1. Reconstruction of the Ratsek Hut;

2. Establishment of high mountain weather forecast system;

3. Raising of public awareness on high mountain tourism and SlovakAid and  

4. Project Management, monitoring and reporting.

Mountain Lodge Ltd, as the partner of this project, is private profit company, which was established in Bishkek in May 2002. Mountain Lodge is currently managed by Mr Vladimir Komissarov, Director, Ph D.. The company has 4 full time employees and 16 part time employees. 

Mission of the company: providing travellers with simple but comfortable accommodation in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan using nature friendly materials and approaches in building of infrastructure.
